Aortic stenosis is a condition that causes the aortic valve in heart to stiffen. This can affect the way blood is pumped out of the heart and to the body. In people who don’t have any symptoms treatment involves monitoring their condition and seeing them in clinic every 6 months or so. Sometimes symptoms can develop and people may not realise it is because of their condition.

The APRAISE-AS app helps people with symptomless severe aortic stenosis to record information about:
Their symptoms
How they are feeling
How easily they can move around.

This information is shared with your healthcare team allowing them to monitor your condition in between clinic visits. Your information can also be used to decide whether you might benefit from a change in treatment.
It is important to remember that while the information you upload to the app can be viewed by your doctor/the research team, it will not be seen right away. As such, should you experience a blackout, chest pain or dizziness, please seek medical assistance immediately.
The app will be used as part of a clinical trial and only those healthcare professionals involved in your care will be able to view your information.

The app has been developed in collaboration with B13 Technology.
